Lusail is a new waterfront city being built in Qatar that is intended to be the biggest domestic real estate development in the country. It will cover an area of 35 million square meters (377 million square feet) and be located north of Qatar’s capital city of Doha, next to The Pearl-Qatar. The US$ 5.5 billion development project will contain two marinas, residential areas, commercial districts, two golf courses, an entertainment district, shopping malls, mosques, schools and medical centers.
Lusail City is expected to provide accommodation for over 200 thousand people with its 25 thousand residential units. It was announced in December 2005 and will permit foreigners to purchase property on a 99-year lease basis, while a few of the units will be sold as freehold.
Fox Hills - Located as the centerpiece of Lusail City and spanning over 1.6 million square meters (17.2 million square feet), it will have commercial, residential and civic facilities and amenities inspired by Qatari heritage and drawing on European influences. It will contain four to seven storey buildings with over 1.8 million square feet (167 thousand square meters) of office space that will blend harmoniously with residential areas.
Energy City Qatar - Identified as the Gulf's first hydrocarbon industry busines center, it will act as an oil and gas hub, providing a single point of acess to markets and expertise for global players in the hydrocarbon value chain.
